Welcome

The friendly members of Immanuel Lutheran Church invite you to join them in worship and service to our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCA). This congregation was established in the Killeen community in 1889. Ever since it’s founding, Immanuel’s people and leaders have reached out and made a difference for Christ in the lives of residents and visitors alike. Many military and civilian families have made life-long friendships through their association with the people of Immanuel.

Our aim is not only to make you feel welcome and needed, but to offer you an ear, a prayer and God’s Word of instruction so that you can be better prepared for the future God has in store for you. We pray that you will go out from our place of worship with new vision and new hope in Christ, ready to share the Good News of the risen Lord!

You will find a wide variety of Church backgrounds, ages, and interests among our members. We find that this variety, coupled with the Word of Scripture for direction, makes us stronger witnesses than we could ever be alone.

Holy Communion

The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday. Any baptized Christian believing in the real presence of Christ in the sacrament, where the body and blood of Christ are given for forgiveness and strength for service, is welcome to join us at the altar.

For those who cannot receive wine, grape juice is available in the center of each communion tray.

Becoming a Member

Newcomers, long-time residents, military and civilian alike, are made to feel at home at Immanuel.

We hope you will desire to become a member in Christian ministry with us at Immanuel. We pray that God’s spirit will draw you here to grow in His Word, and share with us your gift of service.

Since many are here in the area for relatively short periods of time, we have several ways to become a member.
1. Regular membership. Transfer.
2. Associate membership. This allows you to keep your home church membership.
3. Baptism.
4. Re-affirming the faith if you have been away from the church for some time.

Christian Education

We believe that one cannot live in the cycle of God’s will unless we begin with the Word of God directed by the power of the Holy Spirit sent to us by God’s only Son, Jesus Christ. The Word of God leads to Worship and Prayer which develops Inspiration that prompts us to Act in the world causing us to Praise God and then drives us back to the Word for further instruction.

Sunday School - For ages 3 to adult. A nursery is provided for those that are too small for Sunday School.

Adult Inquiry Class - See the section “On Becoming a Member”.

Holy Communion Instruction - Classes are given for 5th grade level and up.

Mid-Week Adult Bible Study - There is an annual schedule of classes published for your planning convenience.

Vacation Bible School - There is Vacation Bible School every summer.

Confirmation Class - A schedule is available from the Pastor.
